Goodbye Honda, Hello New Taco

For quite a while, Chris has been saying he'd really like a truck to drive. As our Honda was not very cooperative with running the air conditioning and we live in Houston, we decided it was finally time to take action.

Here's Chris driving the Honda away for the last time.

My cousin Dustin recently moved in with my grandparents while he starts college at ACC. However he did not have any wheels to get around town. We sold him the Honda, which was great for both of us. Yes, the AC is a bit cranky, but he'll have some experts in Austin to help him tinker with the car (we have a family friend that is a Honda expert).

After we got back to Houston the real fun for Chris began. He started wheeling and dealing with the local car dealers for a few days. On Wednesday, February 24, we became the proud new owners of a Toyota Tacoma (the Taco as Chris calls it).

Chris & Cameron debated the choice of color and decided on white as Cameron feels it looks more like a Star Wars Storm Trooper that way. Cameron got some say in the choice because Chris can see us handing the truck down to him when he turns 16.
Chris has already started telling me about all of the modifications and upgrades that can be made. This change to the grill, that update on the tail gate, leather seats would be nice . . . you get the idea. I have a feeling this "new baby" is going to take up more time than ever before.

I'm so happy that Chris finally has a vehicle that he loves and can be proud of. And since he's in it over 2 hours every day driving to work, it's important that he enjoy himself. I also like having a second vehicle that's comfortable to traverse around in. The kids love the truck, so they want to ride with daddy more than me. Teehee!

Love it! It really does look like a storm trooper; good call Cameron! Kirk got a new Honda a year or so ago, and we've already talked about handing it down to Noah when he turns 16... which is only 6 more years away. That blows my mind! Anyway, back to the Taco...enjoy that new baby!
