Cam's 5th Birthday - The Party

I created some big Legos out of diaper boxes, cups and spray paint.

We rented a bouncer for the kids to jump around in.
One of our games was a Lego build challenge.

After looking at some ideas on the internet, I took a soccer ball pinata, painted it grey with a black circle and it's supposed to look like the Death Star. Not everyone got it, but Cam thought it was cool.
Mad scramble for candy.

One of the presents Cam was so excited to open - LEGOs! He's really loving all the new Legos he got from his friends. I am often surprised at how quickly he can build a new creation, with or without instructions. He makes ships, fire stations, and more just from ideas he has in his head . . . engineer? architect? What does his future hold?

Cam's 5th Birthday - The Sweets

We started the day with a birthday donut for Cameron. He wanted blue and green sprinkles and luckily the donut shop complied.

We got to baking cakes for his party and of course had to use the Lego mold to get the right shape.

Cake #1 - Lego Luke Skywalker in a black suit (which is also what Cam wants to be for Halloween).

Cake #2 - Lego Anakin Skywalker in a black suit.

There's some sort of theme here I think, he likes when they are in their black suits for some reason.

Anyhow, I baked the cakes. Then Chris, Jeanne & Cindy worked to decorate and get the look right. David did not make the fondant this year, which was a shame because it was so yummy last year. I think they did an amazing job with making the characters true to the Lego forms. They've got futures on Ace of Cakes or Cake Boss.

Sleepy Time

I just thought these were some cute shots of the kids sleeping. First, Cam fell asleep on the couch the other night and both of the dogs joined him. Obviously he goes a little crazy with the amount of blankets and pillows he requires in order to go to sleep.
This was last night. Chris found the sleeping bag at Target for a good price so he went ahead and got it. Kaiden got a cool sleeping bag a while ago and Cam's been asking for one ever since.
Maggie, of course, had to try it out too.

How to Unmake a Bed in 1 minute

When we went to Canton last month we purchased some new bedding and are trying to be really good about making the bed so we can show off the new purchase.
One morning after Chris had taken the time to straighten everything . . .
Maggie took the time to unmake the bed for us. Look how proud she was!

So that's how things normally go in our house these days. One of us cleans up a room, and Maggie follows behind and gets everything back out. I'm hoping we can convince her to leave things alone, but so far it's not working.

Hand Caughts

We did some Spring Cleaning over Labor Day. Not only is 3 days the perfect amount of time to really get some things done, Cam had a fever so we were house bound any way.
While cleaning we came across some Halloween supplies I purchased at a discount last year. I grabbed all sorts of things from fairy wings to Star Wars gloves. Cam's favorite item that we pulled out of the bag was a set of hand cuffs. However he has his own name for them - "hand caughts." Why, you may ask, would he call them that? Because, when a criminal gets caught the police put them on him. We tried to correct him a few times, but it seems this is the name we are stuck with.

Oh, and on the fever, it was really strange, he had it off and on Friday through Saturday evening, and then Sunday was fine. We just hunkered down at the house on the off chance he could have gotten something serious. Thankfully he was in a great mood the entire time. We were sad to miss family time on Saturday, but I have a feeling they didn't mind us keeping the germs to ourselves.
