Healthier Living

In order to create a healthier living space and reduce some of those allergens that seem to plague all of us, Chris has been working to replace the flooring in the house. And when I mean working, I mean he's been calculating the project, recalculating, and analyzing for about a year now. We've known for quite a while that we'd prefer to take the carpet out of the house and replace it with laminate wood. We were able to finally order the laminate, and it's sitting oh so nicely in our dining room.

Chris decided to tackle Cam's room first, especially since this time of year is the hardest for him. His allergy peak is from November to February. He sniffles, coughs, has watery eyes, the whole shebang. Even with the regiment of meds from the asthma and allergy doctor, there are still mornings when we can tell Cam's going to have a rough day.

So, have you ever see what's under carpet? It's kind of gross, here's Chris as he sweeps up the dirt and what not.

Thanks Robert for helping with the destruction phase of the project. I know you enjoyed going home all dusty.
Here's Chris & Pops as they work on the rows. Pops, thanks for all your help. I'm pretty sure if I was helping to measure and cut the wood, Chris & I would be sleeping in separate rooms.

Anyhow, we really love the final product (see video of Maggie crawling below). I can't wait to have him start ripping up the rest of the house and get this gorgeous flooring throughout. It will take a little while to do it all right. And my vow is to just stay out of Chris' way because on this project he is by far the expert.

Maggie's New Crawl

Chris is working to replace all of the carpet throughout the house, and Cam's room got finished first. Before we loaded everything back into the room, Maggie was hanging out playing with the dancing hamster. I think she may not like her knees to touch the new floor, as you'll see her latest crawling style in the video.

More on the flooring next.

9 Months and Growing

Our dear sweet Maggie is already 9 months old. This time last year I was miserable in my pregnancy. I can't believe that such a sweet baby was making me feel so bad.
She had her regular check in with the doctor on Thursday. It was nice to not have shots, however my doc does a blood test at this age and that was almost worse. The nurse was very good, he prepped everything so it would go as quickly as possible. However, Maggie was still none too please with him. She weighed in at 19.1 lbs, putting her in the 50th percentile for weight. I can't think of the height off the top of my head right now, but I know it was 25th percentile. Meaning she's a fire hydrant!

Already learning to be a ham for the camera!
I found Maggie "in" the barstool and looking oh so cute.
She did have a little cold, so her nose is all red from us wiping it constantly.
Teeth report: I think maybe by the end of this month she will have some of those bottom teeth coming out. She's gnawing on stuff like crazy (see chair above), but her gums are kind of turning white and I've been informed that means teeth are near. I'll post if we see anything.

Quick Visit

Grandma and Pawpaw were in town last weekend for a quick visit. First they stopped over in Rosenburg to see Grandma's brothers and sisters. The sibling rarely get a chance to get together and visit, so Aunt Bernice hosted them all for lunch.

Cameron got to take Pawpaw with him to Lowes to make a time capsule. Pawpaw said that 30 kids in a small room with hammers is very loud.

Maggie got her nightly story from Grandma.

The kids love getting to spend time with all of their grandparents, close and far.

What do you dream about?

I was riding in the car with my friend Emily & Heather the other night on our way home from Gringos. During the ride I happened to mention that I dream about food. The ladies thought I was a bit silly for dreaming about food. But I love food and sometimes it's just sitting there in my sub conscience that I should be dreaming of it as well.
I'm not just dreaming of every day foods. Oh no, that would be too simple. It's generally a meal that I would really like to repeat, but might not be possible. For example, in college I used to ride back to Central Texas with my friend Analisa. Her family is from the Philippines and her mom makes these amazing egg rolls. They are yummy and crispy, about the size of your pinkie finger around, and you dip them in this vinegary sauce. Analisa found me on Facebook this month and the first thing I told her was I missed her mom's egg rolls. She totally understood. Her parents no longer live in Texas, which made me sad, no egg rolls for me.
I did give the girls another example, but whatever that one was eludes me right now, but maybe I'll dream about it tonight.
If I'm the only one that dreams of food so be it! I guess I'm a food junkie awake and asleep.

Time to get Organized in 2009

Let's start the year off right together by getting our organization systems in order. This week is "Organize It" Party week on 24/7 Moms. Check it out each day to get tips on everything from meal planning to cleaning.

Maybe 09 will find me without my little green box stuffed full of bills to be filled in the filing cabinet right next to it. One can only hope!

When you just can't bounce anymore

Wow, I miss the days where I could just knock out where I landed. Today Maggie didn't want me to rock her, she wanted to bounce. I was in the kitchen and suddenly there was silence. I just knew she needed to sleep but I guess she just had to do it her own way.
