This towel was one of the favorite items I got at my showers. It's so nice and cozy to wrap Maggie up in after her bathes. Anyway, I took a pic of her early on wrapped up in it, and thought I'd do one now that she can sit up too.

Fun with Sister

Cam has been asking daily to play in the backyard, so Maggie and I have been out swinging with him. It's so funny to watch the two of them play, and to have Cameron entertain Maggie.

Apparently the swings are hilarious for Maggie.

The other night after giving Maggie a bath, Cameron just had to read her the kid's Bible we got from church. His take on the stories is entertaining and Maggie really wants to help with the stories.

Chris is reading the kids the Rock A Bye Baby book the pediatrician gave us at Maggie's 6 mo check up. The next day Cam was reading it to Maggie. I tried to sing the song, however I was informed that "This is not a singing book, Mommy. It's a reading book." It's always nice to be told the 'correct' way to use a book by a 4 year old.

A little nostalgia

I got Maggie dressed up the other day in one of my old outfits. She has such a serious face! I just love getting to dress her up in the clothes I used to wear. I'll have to see if Mom has any pics of me dressed up in some of them.


A couple of weeks ago we went to one of the parks in the area to let Cam & O play for a while. I love this shot of them about to cross the bridge, light sabers nearby, no cares in the world. Ahh, to be a little boy.

I think my Halloween obsession has reached new heights; I just can't say goodbye to October 31st this year. I guess it's a holiday that has everything— decorations, crafts, costumes and candy!

I've been hearing of some pretty fabulous ways to tame the candy beasts that become your children at Halloween time. But I must say, I've never quite seen such an intricate (and clever) system as this one from Alphamom.com. It looks like so much fun—you punch out the glued-on tissue paper to reveal a treat; it's like an advent calendar for the month of November. (And it reminds me of the punch game from The Price Is Right. Anyone else have a game show obsession?) It's a great way to portion-control the sugar, and it gives your kids something to look forward to after dinner.

Cameron loves his Red Raiders!

So Cameron is really into Texas Tech football this season. I don't think it has anything to do with him and I watching every game so far this season and singing the fight song after every touchdown. ;)

The other night after Tech scored a TD, he kept asking, "Daddy, can we sing it? Let's sing it!" And he will start leading the song with so much enthusiasm. He even know who the top two players for Tech are and what number they wear: quarterback Graham Harrell (#6) and wide receiver Michael Crabtree (#5). He also found a small football that I got a couple of years ago and goes running around saying pretending to be Graham Harrell, while get to be Crabtree. I couldn't be more proud of my little Red Raider.

He has also been asking how many days until we go to the Tech football game against Baylor. It is like a count down to Christmas. He says he misses Raider Red (mascot) and can't wait to see him and give him a big hug. I don't know who is more excited about all this, me or him.

Anyway I wanted to post a couple of videos so that everyone could share in his excitement. One of these days we will work getting the words exactly right in the fight song. Right now I love it the way it is. Get your guns up! Wreck 'Em Tech!

Why I like mornings

Okay I'm not a good morning person. I'd much rather sleep than wake, however, my kids do make waking up more fun. In the mornings, Cam crawls into bed with me, and I get Maggie and put her in bed with me too. We lay in bed and Cam tells me about his night and what he plans to do for the day. Maggie just laughs and laughs at her big brother. They both really enjoy entertaining each other.

What a score!

First of all, did you see the Texas Tech versus Texas game? I mean what a game. We were all yelling at the TV last night like crazy people. The kids slept through that last play where Crabtree just skidded right by the side line. It was a crazy game, and I'm so glad that Tech won. We are moving up in the rankings and I really hope that means that we get a good bowl game this year. As soon as the game ended Chris said, "Oh we are so going to the Baylor game." So I know it won't be an especially hard game for us, but it's the only game that we'll have a chance to get out to Lubbock. I think that every year since we've left Chris has at least made it back for a game there, or we've found a game close by to attend.

Second fun thing of the day was I got to leave the kids at Nana & Pops while Chris was watching all the football games and do a little shopping. I hit the 3 Halloween stores here in town and picked up a variety of dress up clothes for the kids to have into next Halloween. I got a Storm Trooper, laser gun, and Indiana Jones hat and whip for Cameron. I found fairy wings, a princess dress, and a Minnie Mouse outfit for Maggie. I was also able to pick up a trick or treat bucket with the Disney princesses on it for Maggie. Hopefully the kids will like their pre-picked costumes for next year. Oh, and the Minnie is actually for 2 years down the road for Maggie. I just couldn't pass it up at half off. And since in 2010 we'll be headed to Disney that May, I can't imagine that we won't find a reason for Maggie to wear it.

Finally, I've got quite a few orders for embroidery items that I'm excited about. Some really cute bags and so forth that people are giving their friends and family for Christmas presents. My plan isn't really to make it a "business", however, the income from the orders will help pay for my own personal projects - clothes for Maggie, pajamas for the kids, and so forth. And the world of bow making has been very beneficial. My friend Valerie brings me the bows she needs embroidery, I return them, and then usually instead of recieving payment I have ended up needing a bow in return (just about every time!). I think it works out pretty good for both of us.

So those are my happy's of the day. I know, simple stuff, but that's what makes it so good.
