My Little Chef
We borrowed a Micky Mouse Hot Dog Day book from the library last week. It's about how Minnie plans a picnic but it doesnt' quite go as planned. At the end of the book there were two recipes. Once for Donald's Pink Lemonade and Daisy's Fruit Salad. So of course Cam has been begging to make both. On Saturday we took all the ingredients with us over to Nana & Pops house and made the very yummy lemonade. Then last night we put everything together for the very simple fruit salad.
This morning our buddy Owen came over and Cam was sure to read him the book and tell him all about how we had made the recipes. He also wanted to make something new - cupcakes. So I put the boys on chairs, pulled out the mixer and let the boys make the cupcakes.
They were quite excited about how the mixer was blending all the ingredients together. Owen had to leave before we got to ice the cupcakes. However we made sure we ate enough for him.

Tuesday Playdate
My buddy Kim invited us over to have our babies play on Tuesday. We haven't seen each other since before we had our kiddos so it was great fun to catch back up on our lives and how they have changed so much with our new additions. Here's Maggie and Caroline admiring each other.
It doesn't look like Maggie's all that interested in Brady, but trust me she was flirting with him. All the babies were ready for naps after the playdate. Actually Caroline took a little nap while we were still there.
It was fun to get to take Maggie on her first playdate all by herself. She was fascinated by having new and different toys to explore. It made me realize how much she's already grown in such a short amount of time.

Halloween Round One
On Sunday we attended 2 Halloween celebrations. First we headed to Challenger 7 to celebrate with my Mom & Tots group. Here's a great shot of the cousins. Out of a dozen shots this was the best I got, they all kept moving, blinking, or looking elsewhere so it was hard to get a great shot

Cameron had the idea that we should all dress up for Halloween. He decided to be Luke Skywalker X-wing Fighter Pilot. He granted daddy with the choice between Obi Wan, Han Solo, or Darth Vadar. As you can see Chris choose the Dark Side.
So to finish out the grouping, I'm Padame and Maggie is Princess Leia. However the outfit we ordered for her was not described very well. It was HUGE. So we just made some adjustments the best we could so she could participate as well.
Our second engagement of the day was the Trunk or Treat at our church. Cam had great fun bouncing on the jumper and then of course getting candy. Chris had fun scaring small children in his costume. He did look very realistic and plans to wear the costume in the future. He said it was almost like being a character as Disney. People stopped to pose with him for pictures, and small children often cried when they saw him.

Cam's Moving On Up
For forever Cam's % when we go to the doc is always the same - 25th percentile weight and 25th percentile height. Well, this year we've moved up on the scales. He's now 40% percentile weight and 30th percentile height. So he is not that short anymore or something like that.
Our doctor visit was a rough one as he was set to get shots. I debated about it and decided to let him know ahead of time the he would be getting shots that day. He ended up begging me not to take him to the doctor's office because he did not want shots. He even wanted to trade off and make Maggie get his shots instead. I did explain that she got her shots the day before and couldn't get his for him. What a loving brother that is, wants his sister to take his licks!
Anyway, the nurse was the same one we had for Maggie and she was so slow again. Cam was wiggling and crying the whole time. He kept sayings "I don't want shots, they hurt! Please mommy!" I felt like the worst mom ever. I hate for him to be in pain like that. As soon as she finished giving him shots I told him he could have whatever he wanted. He first said he wanted spaghetti, but as I was backing the car out he changed his mind to McDonalds. So we headed to McD's to get a Happy Meal and a new Hot Wheels car.
I also called Chris when we finished up and told him that next year the shots are his job. I hated doing that to my baby boy. At least with Maggie she couldnt' tell me how terrible it was. Cam was quite vocal with each and every shot - they gave him 5. He could have just had 4, but I decided that he needed to go ahead and get the flu shot so we could be done with them. I did tell Cam that I'm not a big fan of shots or needles either. In fact, if you've ever seen me have to give blood or get a shot, I basically go white in the face and start to pass out. Yep, I'm chicken and I know it.

Six Months & Growing
Alright Maggie's hit the 6 month marker. She weighed in at 17lb 7oz (75th percentile) yesterday, and was 25 1/2 inches long (50th percentile). The first time they measured her head, the nurse put it into the system as 45 inches or 108 centimeters. The doc took a look at that number and said "Now that just can't be right." After a remeasure, it was 45 centimeters! Pretty big difference. Can you imagine if her head really was that big, it's be kind of like the Macy's Parade floats, all wobbly. They also gave her 4 shots in the legs and one oral shot. She was quite cranky for the rest of the day.
Anyway, she's rolling from back to front, sitting up really well, and trying really hard to figure out how to crawl. When she's on her tummy she's constantly pushing her legs and arms. She goes in circles and backs up, but no forward motion yet. We got some of the wagon wheel biscuits and she thinks those are awesome. Maggie has also gotten to taste some mommy and daddy food, including rice, tortilla, potatoes, carrots, ice cream, french fry, and bread. She is quite vocal when she wants your food. And she is also drinking both out of a sippy cup and a straw. She likes to show off her drinking skills quite a bit. We are still breastfeeding, but I give her water in the sippy cup.
I'm amazed every day at the new things that Maggie does. Cameron and Maggie seem to have a special connection. She just loves it when he talks to her - get a really big grin on her face and kicks her legs, flails her arms. It's really neat to see that sibling connection. He wants to help take care of her so bad - "Mommy, can I feed her?", "Mommy, can I hold her?", "Here's her toy." Then again he also wants to be a baby and play with her toys, crawl in the pack in play with her, and sit in the swing. It's a tough time being a big boy with all of these neat baby toys to play with.
I'm so glad that Cam has his own activities to keep him busy as well. He's got so many friends at Mother's Day Out and is really enjoying his soccer time. I was sad when his art class was canceled due to lack of interest, but now I can't imagine running one more place during the week.

All the Crafters
Ladies, I'm working to help Melissa at The Vine put together another fabulous Scrapbooking/Crafting day like she held back in April. We are setting it up for November 1! I know it's short notice, but I hope you can clear your schedule.
The sign up sheet will be in The Vine office starting Thursday.
We are setting a $10 fee, which will include snacks, drinks, and lunch. Also, if you sign up and pay by Halloween your name will be entered into a door prize drawing. You can still pay at the door, but you really want to sign up in time to get that door prize item.
I can't wait to see what sort of crafty items everyone brings to work on. I've still got a baby book or two to put together.
